Dr. Thompson is pleased to offer advanced technology for your dental treatment. Below are some of the most recent advances currently being used in our office.

Cerec one visit crowns

Dr. Thompson has had much experience with the Cerec system with over 1,000 restorations completed to date. He has taken several advanced courses to stay on top of the many advances made for this system. Most recently completing courses at the Scottsdale Center for Advanced dental training in 2008 and 2009. The Cerec system allows ceramic restorations to be made in one visit, typically in about an hour. There is no need for the traditional impressions or temporary crowns or a follow up visit. You leave with your new tooth ready to use normally.

Biolase laser dentistry

Dr. Thompson has been using laser dentistry for over 6 years. He has taught in-office seminars for other dentists. Laser dentistry can provide you with the latest dental treatment in the most conservative preparations, most times without the need for local anesthesia. This laser can be used on soft tissue treatments as well as hard tissue(fillings, etc.).

Velscope oral cancer screening

As oral cancer is becoming more prevalent, Velscope is the latest in noninvasive early detection of oral cancer. The key to curing oral cancer is to find it early. Velscope allows us to see pre-cancerous cells that can then be biopsied or removed before it becomes life threatening.

Vizilite is another alternative early cancer detection system with the same benefits as Velscope.

Diagnodent

This is a laser devise that can detect cavities before they are visible by traditional means. A painless laser beam is directed into the tooth and reads the density of the inside of the tooth where decay begins. If we find decay very early with Diagnodent, we can then use the Biolase and treat the very tiny cavity without having the local anesthetic.

Invisalign

Correcting misaligned teeth without the need for traditional braces. Ideal tooth alignment is achieved through a series of clear, invisable appliances. Friends and co-workers will not know you are undergoing treatment since there are no visible backets or wires of the traditional type.
